This Lakefront B&B Is One of the Most Charming Rustic Wedding Venues in Maine You Could Ever Hope to Find

The Wolf Cove Inn in Poland, Maine is a JAW. DROPPER.

This beauty, which sits on the shore of Tripp Lake, was built in 1894 and operated as a private residence until the 1950s, when a local family remodeled the building and converted the first floor into a restaurant called Lobsterland (how much more charmingly Maine can you possibly get, right?).

After changing hands in the 1970s, the property was converted a private home, then in 1995 into a bed and breakfast and christened the Wolf Cove Inn. Roy and Sue Forsberg, the current owners, purchased the property in 2013—and boy, do they know how to make their guests feel welcome. From the super cozy and comfortable guest rooms to the little touches like free s’mores kits and Adirondack chairs found throughout the property, these two are committed to delivering a quintessential Maine experience, and it shows—big time.

What is your capacity?
We limit the size of our Sapphire and Diamond Packages to 12 people, including the bride and groom, 20 people for the Intimate Cocktail Reception Package. That said, we have been known to have some minor upside flexibility on this.

Do you offer a ceremony location?
We offer multiple indoor and outdoor locations. Outdoors, our location options are:

  • A handmade, lakeside, outdoor birch arbor
  • Lawn right on Tripp Lake
  • Small patio area overlooking Tripp Lake
  • Private boat dock
  • Lakeside pine grove
  • Intimate boathouse (this is where couples who choose the Diamond package have their Ultimate Romance Dinner)

We also have two indoor locations:

  • Sun porch under a handmade birch arbor overlooking Tripp Lake,
  • Fireplace in our living/dining room

What is included in your wedding packages?
We offer a variety of options so our couples can choose the package that best meets their needs. We also have some fun extras, depending on your package, such as a voucher for a 10 percent discount on a stay at the inn for your first anniversary. And, you may even use our rowboat if you want to *literally* take the plunge!

Please note the package pricing here is for a ceremony for the wedding couple only; pricing for additional ceremony guests is available through our optional add-ons. All of our wedding packages, with the exception of the vow renewal, have a two-night minimum stay required that is priced separately. The vow renewal package has a minimum one-night stay.

What is your favorite moment from one of your weddings?
One of our brides got some blueberry pie on her wedding dress. On top of that, she and her groom were both hot since it was warm outside. So, they asked if they could use our rowboat to “take the plunge”—and they did. They rowed out onto the lake in their wedding clothes, stood up, and then hand in hand jumped into the lake.

What is your best advice for couples planning their weddings?
It’s your day. Do what you want to do. Not what your parents, relatives, and friends want you to do. The day is really only about you and as the years pass, you’ll be the only ones remembering the details. So make it special for yourselves.

Are there any vendors you would recommend to couples planning a wedding at your venue?
We make all the arrangements for the couple. That’s our service: hassle-free, intimate weddings. We take care of the officiant, witnesses, photographer, cake, flowers and so on, so the couple doesn’t have to.
