Not many couples could leave their wedding reception decor a complete surprise like this couple did—but Krysta and Kaitlin’s celebration was unique from the start.
For their big day, the couple choose a Peter Pan-inspired theme, a story that they both loved.
“Kaitlin had gotten a Peter Pan tattoo a few weeks before we met, and my nickname is Tink,” says Krysta. “It was one of the first things we knew we had in common, and we claimed ‘Lost Boy’ by Ruth B. as ‘our’ song almost instantly.”

From there, the vendors took over.
“Krysta and Kaitlin pictured their guests entering an enchanted, woodland-filled Neverland, and put complete trust in their vendors to make their dream come true,” says Erin Murphy of House of Assembly Events, which owns The Carriage House, the venue where the wedding took place. “They had no idea what the barn was going to look like until their wedding day reveal—we got happy tears!”
Says Kaitlin: “When we first spoke with Erin, she absolutely loved our theme and really got into it right away. We were sharing ideas about decorations from the beginning so I knew we could trust her to make it beautiful, but what they did was breathtaking.”
Guests entered a fort-like venue that appeared to be the Lost Boys hideout through a secret door with hanging greenery and lanterns. After the ceremony, they enjoyed cocktails on the venue’s very own pirate ship, dubbed “The Jolly Roger” for the day.
For the reception, Erin and stylist Amanda Koerber of Simply Weddings by Amanda helped transform the barn to look like it had been sitting in an enchanted woods just waiting for their wedding day. The theme was carried through even the smallest details, from the gold “pixie dust” coating the leaves and utensils, to the lanterns adorned with the shadow of Tinkerbell, to the tree-bark cake in a leafy, enchanted wagon. Photography for the day was provided by Sarah Annay of Sarah Annay Photography,, while reception decor was provided by Event Decor and More by Carla.
“Every little moment from our wedding was my favorite,” says Krysta. “From seeing my wife for the first time in that beautiful dress to seeing all of the little details in every decoration.”
Adds Kaitlin: “The entire wedding was the definition of perfection. I loved the decor, I loved having all of our family and friends there to support us, and seeing Krysta walking towards me in her wedding dress for the first time? I couldn’t contain my emotions. I will never ever not talk about this incredible day and all of the incredible work from all of the incredible human beings who made our dreams come true.”
Krysta and Kaitlin, thank you so much for sharing the magic of your wedding day with us!
